Esteban Insausti (Havana, 1971) is a Cuban filmmaker, screenwriter, photographer, producer, and essayist. He holds a degree in Film Directing from the Faculty of Audiovisual Media at Cuba’s University of the Arts (ISA), with postgraduate studies in Semiotics, Aesthetics, Marketing, and Dramaturgy. Critics have regarded him as one of the outstanding filmmakers of the new generation of Cuban cinema. His works include Las manos y el ángel, Tres veces dos, Existen, Larga distancia, and Club de jazz.

He is the founder, editor-in-chief, and designer of Alterna, the magazine of the Assembly of Cuban Filmmakers. With Anomalía. Sobre la tolerancia cultural a la traición política, he brings to the essay form the visual, ethical, and civic perspective that defines his cinematic work. His work bridges cinema, essay writing, and public debate, with a sustained focus on memory, freedom, cultural responsibility, and the ethical role of art in contemporary society.
